Our Story
Cobbs are a truly Scottish, family operated business located in the picturesque village of Drumnadrochit, by the banks of beautiful Loch Ness. In 2002 we acquired a farmhouse bakery in the village and inherited a delicious range of traditional home-baked cakes which were already proving popular with customers in the local area.
Originally, production was just for our own Cobbs outlets but demand from other visitor attractions and coffee shops meant we rapidly outgrew our original farm kitchen.
Wishing to retain production in our Highland heartland we took over the old village schoolhouse building and established our new bakehouse where we remain to this day. Whether it be for your daily cake range, occasional support to what you bake in house or just for complete reassurance of what we have to offer in our Free From range we're here for you!
Our Passion for Cake
Our scrumptious cakes are lovingly created by hand to many of our original farmhouse recipes that have been handed down through families over the years. We use only the very best of ingredients that could be found in your own pantry at home and deliberately don’t add anything you wouldn’t yourself…so ‘no preservatives’ keeps our cake authentic and true to the ethos and history of traditional home baking…not all cake can say that!
Nowadays of course we’re just making them in much larger quantities as our cakes are sent far and wide to customers all over the UK and Ireland. With an entirely separate team and production area dedicated to ‘Free From’ options we really do have something for everyone!
Our Passion for Community
We are proud to say that our wonderful team of 40 bakers and decorators are all from our local community, however across our entire Cobbs Group we count approx. 500 in what we like to think of us our wider family.
With such an input to our local community we are passionate and dedicated to the support of numerous organisations and schools in our surrounding area, mutually focused on the wellbeing and future development of our folk at all ages and stages.
Our ‘Young Development’ programme has proven particularly successful through our adoption of keen school leavers who wish to explore a career in the hospitality industry. We currently have four very dedicated and motivated team members who are forging their future within our busy business and we look forward to seeing just how high they fly!
